New development model needed: Prachanda

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Aug. 15: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has pointed out the need for a new development model for the economic prosperity of the country.

Speaking at a programme held to award artists in Kathmandu today, Chairman Prachanda, also the former Prime Minister, viewed there was also a need to focus entire strength on the stability and development of the country.

He highlighted Nepal having its own model of development.

"We struggled a lot for political change. Now, it is time to concentrate on the stability and development of the country. I have been expressing my commitment to devote myself to the development of a new model of development as aspired by the people for the economic prosperity of the country," said Chair Prachanda.

The former Prime Minister stressed the need for increasing production, laying the foundation for a self-reliant economy, promoting export, and substituting imports so as to create an environment for development.
