Janakpurdham, July 27: Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies Dilendra Prasad Badu said that the government was conducting a feasibility study to revive Janakpur Cigarette Factory in Janakpur.
Talking to media persons after monitoring the factory
that is defunct at present, Minister Badu further informed that the government
would take a decision after conducting studies on modalities to re-operate sick
industries across the country.
According to him, he was making the on-site visit to the
Factory as a part of the government's plan to re-operate sick industries. The
government, he added, aimed to reduce the trade deficit by substituting imports in
cooperation with the private sector and to increase productivity and create
jobs.
The Minister said that he arrived here to take stock of
the once very famous Factory and its machinery's condition as well as its
assets.
He was accompanied by Madhesh Province's Minister for
Physical Infrastructure Development Ram Saroj Yadav and the provincial government's
employees among others.
A discussion programme between Minister Badu and
provincial ministers is scheduled today itself on how to re-operate the Janakpur
Cigarette Factory. (RSS)
