By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, July 19: The Cricket Association of Nepal on Monday announced the names of four franchise teams for the country’s only official NepalT20 cricket league.
Six teams are competing in the first edition of the NepalT20. The remaining two teams’ names and owners will be finalised soon. Seven 3 Sports, event manager of the league, unveiled the names of the teams-Kantipur Capital, Lumbini All Stars, Biratnagar Super Kings and Janakpur Royals.
Nepali Mahesh Swar owns Kantipur. US citizen Sanjay Sharma owns Lumbini. Biratnagar and Janakpur have Indian owners. They are Vikram Yadav and Gouri Shankar Dhamani respectively.
“We have sent the names and owners of the six teams to the ICC. Today owners of the two teams could not arrive. So, we announced the name and owners of four teams. We will announce the names and owners of the remaining teams as soon as possible,” CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand said.
The league, which will be organised at TU Cricket Ground, has been sanctioned by ICC and National Sports Council. The month-long league is scheduled to start on September 24.
