Jhapa, July 13: Rajendra Rai, Chief Minister of Province 1, has said creating literature is not as easy as doing politics.

A literary career needs perseverance, he said at a programme organized by the Bhanu Literary Foundation, Mechinagar at Kakadbhitta.

"It's easy to give a speech, but difficult to create a literary piece," he stressed at the programme organized to mark the 209th birth anniversary of pioneering poet Bhanubhakta here Wednesday. People forget sportsmen and political leaders soon, but remember poets and writers for long, he observed.

Chief Minister Rai stressed that none can forget the role the Adikavi Bhanubhakta played in the Nepali language and literature. He made a floral offer to the life-size statue of Adikavi Bhanubhakta and honoured six literary writers, including Modnath Prashrit at the programme.

Prashrit was honoured with Bhanu Literary Award, carrying the purse of Rs 100 thousand while literati Bhanubhakta Kuvendeli, Sashi Prasad Bajgain, and Matrika Prasad Sangraula, historian and explorer captain Gopilal Limbu, and journalist GN Sharma got Rs 21,000 each.

Yagya Raj Prasain's collection of essays, 'Jivanko Antaral' and Kuvendeli's epic, 'Sachchha Sathi' were released on the occasion. (RSS)
