Parliament is soul of democracy: Speaker Sapkota

Bhaktapur, July 9: Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has said parliament is the soul of democracy.     

Inaugurating the 'Federal Model Youth Parliament Practice' programme organised at National Youth Council, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, today, Speaker Sapkota opined that the parliament is the place where democracy is maximumly exercised.     

He shared, "Democracy succeeds only if we become democratic. Progressive democracy is the alternative to the democracy."     

He stressed the need for ending anomalies and distortions wherein in general money is spent extravagantly on the coming election of federal parliament and province assembly.   

Similarly, executive vice president of the National Youth Council Surendra Basnet said youths' role would be important for a fair election.
