Karnali, July 4 : Chief Minister of Karnali Province Government, Jeevan Bahadur Shahi, has said that the provincial government has been carrying out works rather than advertising about the same.
Addressing the 'Province-level
Disaster Management Based Journalism and Capacity Building Training' organized
by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law in Birendranagar, Surkhet, today,
he argued that the work itself did the advertisement.
Chief Minister Shahi opined that
society and individuals need not suffer if they understood the importance of
time. He stressed that the journalists who write news about others should
themselves adopt safety during a disaster.
"The essence of the
journalists' writings should give the positive and explicit message. The
responsibility of disaster-sensitive journalism is fulfilled when the news
disseminated by the journalists during disasters is balanced and
conciliatory," he said.
Minister for Internal Affairs and
Law, Him Bahadur Shahi, spoke of the important role of journalists to spread
awareness on disaster prevention, preparedness, rescue and relief. He said
journalists have a major role to disseminate true and factual news and
information to the 1.7 million population in the province.
Federation of Nepali Journalists
(FNJ) Karnali province president Deviram Devkota said that the two-day
province-level capacity enhancement training has been organized targeting
journalists covering the disaster beat.
Thirty journalists from seven
districts of the Karnali province are attending the training. Bhawani Baral is
