Teachers using resources from internet in lack of textbooks

By Our Correspondent Humla, June 27: Teachers of upper Humla started to teach with alternative medium after they faced the shortage of textbooks even one and a half months after the the academic session began.

Amar Bahadur Shahi, headmaster of Mansarobar Secondary School of Simkot Rural Municipality, informed that teachers who know how to use internet have started teaching by downloading curriculum from the internet now.

According to Shahi, none of the students of the school has got textbooks till now. Therefore, children are completely dependent on teachers for the resources.

Likewise, Mej Buda, headmaster of Kailash Secondary School, Simkot also stated that teachers especially of grade four, seven and nine are completely dependent on internet for resources because new courses were introduced for these grades. Besides teachers of these grades have been taking resources from available old textbooks of senior students.  

There are 25 secondary schools and three basic schools in Simkot Rural Municipality. Most of them are depending on alternative medium for teaching resources.

Similarly, 16 schools of Namkha Rural Municipality have also been using resources from internet in lack of textbooks, Dharma Nanda Lama, headmaster of Buddha Basic School, said. It is a positive side that teachers are gaining knowledge of technology though they have no access to textbooks, Lama said.
