Bridge construction completes in six years

blog

By Our Correspondent, Bajura, June 17:  Construction of a bridge over Jadanga River, which lies between Badimalika Municipality Ward No. 6 and 4, has been finally completed in six years.

The contract was signed on July 14, 2016, by Naresh Panta, contractor of the Kasthmandu Masina JB which had a total capital of Rs. 50,516,900 at the time with the aim of completing it by July 14, 2018.

According to the locals, the construction could not be completed in time due to negligence.  After failing to complete the project in agreed upon time, they resumed works last year.

The locals were facing problems as the Bailey bridge over the river was swept away last year. After completion of the concrete bridge, locals are happy as it has become easier to travel.

Locals said the construction was completed after news about it was published in Gorkhapatra Daily time and again. Side in-charge of the company, Ramesh Prasai, said 70 per cent works were already completed last year but they had to be discontinued due to floods on August 9.

The budget for the double span 50-metre-long bridge was allocated by the federal government.

They had to complete the construction by July 12, 2021 after re-signing contract in the fiscal year 2020/21 but failed to do so after flooding and landslides in Bajura.
