June 5: Sahadev Shrestha from Nepal has won a silver medal in the 13th
International Open Friendship Taekwondo Championship (IOFTC).
Sahadev had participated in
the competition at his own expense. Taekwondo teams from eight countries and 11
US states had taken part in the competition held at the University of Michigan on
May 13-14.
Sahadev has a long history
of participation in IOFTC. He got his first chance to play in an IOFTC
tournament in Kathmandu in 2000, some 22 years ago.
Having been awarded a silver
medal from the then Crown Prince of Nepal, Dipendra Shah, in IOFTC- Kathmandu,
he also won a bronze medal at the 11th edition of the tournament held at
Portland in Oregon- under the Pumsae category.
