Nepali, English translations of Shiva Mahapurana text launched from Everest top

Kathmandu, June 2 (RSS): The Nepali and English translations of the Shiva Mahapurana scriptures have been launched from atop Sagarmatha (Mt Everest), the highest peak in the world.

Dr Badri Pokharel, who translated the religious text, said that both the translation versions have been unveiled from atop Sagarmatha as it is special among the Himalayas. The Himalayas is considered the abode of god Shiva. Dr Pokharel translated the scripture in Sanskrit into Nepali and English. 

The English version was launched by Chhuwang Kalden Sherpa while the Nepali one was unveiled by Lhakpa Dendi Sherpa on May 13, 2022. 

Dr Pokharel, who has translated all the 18 Puranas into Nepali, said the launching of one of the 18 Mahapuranas of the Hindus from the top of the world is a matter of dignity for those who have reverence for spiritualism and Sanatana dharma. 

He said the Thamserku Trekking and Expedition has supported the initiative to launch the Shiva Mahapurana from atop Mt Everest.
