Everest Day marked in Germany

By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, June 2: The Embassy of Nepal in Berlin, Germany, has organised a programme on Monday to mark the 15th International Everest Day, 2022. 

The programme themed 'Everest: Peak of the world, pride of Nepal' coincided with the completion of 69 years of the first ascent of the Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa on May 29, 1953.

The Embassy of Germany partnered with the Honorary Consulate  General in Frankfurt and German Asia Business Circle to mark the occasion. 

Ambassador of Nepal to Germany, Ram Kaji Khadka, informed the audience about the impact of climate change in the Everest region including the increased frequency of avalanches, glacial lake outbursts, pollution, garbage, overcrowding of people and urged them to create awareness among the stakeholders.  

He also highlighted the Foreign Direct Investment Policy in Nepal, legal, institutional and regulatory arrangements and urged the participants to consider making investment in Nepal. 

Dr. Andreas Hofmann, Economy and Tourism Section of GIZ society for international cooperation, talked about the forward and backward linkages of tourism industry in Nepal and opportunities it is likely to create to 

multiple sectors of economy in the country. 

Jens Konard, Director of Customer Care at Monotype GmbH in Berlin, who has business investment and partnership with UBA Solutions in 

Kathmandu, maintained that visiting Nepal as a tourist not only provided opportunity either for adventure or leisure but also to explore business potentials.
