Local poll: Kathmandu Metropolis Mayor

Balendra leads vote count with over 56,000

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, May 25: Independent candidate for the post of Mayor in the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Balendra Sah, has been leading the vote count with 56,148 votes, leaving behind his nearest competitor, Srijana Singh of Nepali Congress, with a wide margin of over 20 thousand.

According to the vote count result till 5 pm today, a total of 172 thousand 255 votes have been counted.

NC's mayoral candidate Singh has got 35,878 while CPN (UML) candidate Keshav Sthapit for the same post has secured 34,854 votes.

For the post of deputy mayor of the metropolis, CPN (UML) candidate Sunita Dangol has been leading the vote count with 62, 878 votes and her closest rival, Rameshor Shrestha of CPN (Unified Socialist) is following her with 21,514 votes.

The counting of the vote is ongoing at Rastriya Sabha Griha and the counting of votes of Wards 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 is underway.

The nationwide local poll was held on May 13.
