Jaleshwore hospital performs difficult surgery

BY OUR CORRESPONDENT  Mahottari, May 24: Doctors of Provincial Hospital in Jaleshwor, Mahottari, have conducted a successful operation on a patient who was suffering from hydropneumothorax. 

Dr. Ranjit Raj Pathak of the hospital has set an example by conducting the operation of a patient who had the problem of the presence of both air and fluid within the pleural space. 

The air and water were taken out through the surgery in the right side of the abdomen.  Raudi Mukhiya, 68, of Jaleshwor Municipality-12, had visited the hospital for check-up two weeks back after having high fever, cough and asthma. 

Dr. Pathak examined Mukhiya and through the x-ray report, the doctor diagnosed that he had hydropneumothorax. 

Mukhiya was discharged from the hospital after one week stay in the hospital, informed the hospital.

After Dr. Pathak knew about the weak financial status of the patient through Mukhiya’s family, he managed the operation at the same hospital. 

The operation of such type of disease was not carried out in the hospital earlier. So, the hospital brought the necessary medicines and materials from Janakpur. 

“If the patients and their relatives and family believe us, doctors of our hospital can conduct any type of operation,” said Dr. Pathak. 

This operation has proved that this hospital can provide any type of surgery service despite not having required resources and equipment, added Dr. Pathak. 

The main thing are patients, and their families should believe us, said Dr. Pathak. 

At first, it was difficult to convince Mukhiya’s family, but later all of them were happy with having a successful operation, according to Dr. Pathak. 

“It is very important to believe in doctors and hospital. We can provide quality service even with limited resources.”

Although the province government has improved the standard of the district hospital, it has not added any human resources. The provincial hospital, Jaleshwor has only 15 beds.
