By Chandani Acharya, Kailali, May 23:
Ghodaghodi Municipality has decided to provide land ownership certificates to
the landless people within its jurisdiction.
Khadak Rawat, the newly elected mayor
of the municipality for the second term, took the decision to initiate a process
for providing land ownership certificates to the landless within the current
fiscal year.
While assuming office today, I have
made the first decision to collect the records of the land of the landless
squatters, mismanaged settlements and the land the landless have occupied for
shelter, and take their measurement, and then provide the land ownership certificate
to them, said Mayor Rawat.
He said the development works which
could not be completed during his first tenure would be finalized during his
second term and that he would move ahead for the overall development of Ghodadhadi
in consultation with the local intellectuals and political parties.
Rawat, who filed candidacy as a candidate
of the CPN (Unified Socialist), was a common candidate for the post of Mayor of
the ruling parties- Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), and CPN (Unified
Socialist).
