Bahadur Rai, Okhaldhunga, May 22: A teenage girl of Dhimle in Manebhanjyang
Rural Municipality-5 has been found in an unconscious condition, probably due
to brutal beating after the gang rape, on Sunday morning.
The
police and the locals have rescued the girl child and taken her to Okhaldhunga community
hospital for treatment.
The girl aged 18 years old had slept with the family members after dinner on Saturday evening but was
found unconsciously lying at a nearby ravine when the family members started
searching for her after not finding her at home in the morning.
A preliminary investigation of the police has indicated that the child may have been severely
beaten after a gang rape, according to Sukadev Khanal, deputy superintendent of
police (DSP) and chief of the Okhaldhunga police office.
Pointing at the wounds in the girl's body, her torn
clothes, and the nature of the incident, the locals have guessed that she was beaten
after the gang rape and left there believing that she died after she fell
unconscious.
DSP Khanal said that preparations were underway to
airlift the girl to Kathmandu for further treatment as her condition was
critical.
Until we get the report of her medical test, we cannot
say whether she was raped or not, DSP Khanal said, adding, that the police has already
started a serious investigation into the incident.
