Singer Raju Lama climbs Mt. Everest

By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, May 17: Popular singer Raju Lama has successfully climbed Sagarmatha (Mount Everest), the highest peak of the world. 

He reached atop the highest peak at 6:40 am on Monday together with 26 other climbers of his expedition team. 

According to Imagine Nepal Expedition, singer Lama has conquered the 8848.86-meter high peak.

"Our Imagine Nepal Everest Expedition 2022 Team summited Mt. Everest 8848.86 today (2022-05-16) morning in between 4 am and 6:40 am. Congratulations to all,” read a post on the Facebook page of Imagine Nepal Everest Expedition.  

 Along with singer Lama, 27 people climbed Mt. Everest on behalf of Imagine Nepal Expedition.

Mingma Ji, who led the expedition, climbed Mt. Everest without oxygen.

The team consisted of climbers from Nepal, China, Australia, Russia and Pakistan.

Lama said he climbed the highest peak to convey the message of the effects of climate change. They also gave a concert at Camp 3 at an altitude of 6,574 meters.

Lama is also the lead vocalist of popular music band Mongolian Heart and has been active in environmental campaigns lately.

Timilai Dekhera Himal Haseko, Badal Pariko Desh Baat, Sayad Timro Baatoma, Parkhaima are some his popular songs.  He was one of the coaches of the singing reality show ‘The Voice of Nepal’.
