A little after a third-year BTech student of Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), a private engineering college, died allegedly by suicide in her hostel, all enrolled students from Nepal have been reportedly sent back to their homes. The deceased was identified as Prakriti Lamsal from Nepal. "A Nepali student studying in the third year of B-Tech committed suicide in the hostel yesterday. It is suspected that the student was in a love affair with another student studying at KIIT. It is suspected that the student may have committed suicide due to some reason," PTI quoted KIIT.
Properties worth over Rs 70.3 million were lost in a fire caused by a cooking gas cylinder leak in Khotang's Halesi, a renowned religious site.
