SC orders to shut brick kilns operating in Panchkhal

Kavrepalanchowk, April 16: The Supreme Court (Sc) has issued an order to close the brick kilns operating in Panchkhal municipality.  

  
The apex court has ordered the closure of brick kilns, citing its serious impacts on the environment and public health.    

The locals had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court on 30 December 2019, making Panchkhal Municipality, Ministry of Forest and Environment, Ministry of Education and Department of Archaeology as defendants.    

At present, eight brick kilns are in operation in Panchkhal. Meanwhile, Panchkhal Municipality has adopted a policy to promote industries, including brick kilns, in a corrective manner by formulating an environmental policy, according to a press release issued on Tuesday. (RSS)
