Following up on death of KIIT student Lamsal: Minister Dr Rana
Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arzu Rana Deuba has said the Ministry is constantly following up on the death of Nepali student Prakriti Lamsal and the developments thereafter. Foreign Minister Rana has made it clear through social media X today that necessary initiatives are being taken to understand the condition of Nepali students in the hostels of Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University in Odisha, India and to provide a safe environment for Nepali students in the college.

Parliamentarians have drawn the government's attention to start diplomatic and political initiatives immediately to ensure security for Nepali students studying in India. During an 'emergency time' of Tuesday's meeting of the House of Representatives, they urged the government to coordinate with the Indian government to investigate the death of Prakriti Lamsal of Butwal, studying at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Odisha state in India and for the security of other students studying there.
KIIT VC tenders apology for untoward incidents over suicide of a Nepali student
KIIT University Vice Chancellor Saranjit Singh on Tuesday tendered an apology for the untoward incidents that occurred in the university following the suicide of a B.Tech girl student from Nepal. In a letter of apology, the KIIT Vice Chancellor stated, "We are extremely appalled by the unfortunate incident that took place on our campus on the evening of February 16." He expressed regret over the way some KIIT staff members behaved with the agitating students and said, "We love our students and have never done them any disservice."
NA lawmakers call for investigation into Prakriti Lamsal's death
National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal has demanded an investigation into the death of a student, Prakriti Lamsal of Butwal, studying at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University. Speaking in today's NA meeting, Chair Dahal said NA's serious attention was drawn due to the mysterious death of Lamsal and drew the government's attention to start a diplomatic initiative immediately to investigate the case and provide appropriate justice.
