National Innovation Centre, Nepal (NIC) is going to make machines needed to produce incense sticks and toothpicks. Under the support of the government, the Centre will develop those machines within the current fiscal year 2022/23. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Friday between the Micro, Cottage and Small Industry Promotion Centre (MCSIPC) under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies and the NIC, for the study, research and development of necessary technologies to make the machines. Acting Chief of MCSIPC Bishnu Prasad Bhusal and Chairman of NIC Mahabir Pun signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions in the presence of Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Dilendra Prasad Badu at a programmes held at the Ministry. As per the MoU, the Ministry will provide Rs. 4 million to the NIC for the current fiscal year to develop the machines.

A new company has finally been registered at the Office of the Company Registrar to construct the multi-purpose Budhigandaki Hydropower Project, construction of which has been delayed by for several years because of changes in the government and cancellation of one contract after another. The government registered 'Budhigandaki Jalbidhyut Company Limited' on Friday to build the 1,200 MW hydro project in domestic investment, according to the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation. A cabinet meeting held in April this year endorsed the Energy Ministry‘s proposal to establish a public company and generate funds internally for the construction of the project.
