Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda said that the economy was under pressure and there was a need of greater cooperation among the stakeholders to find solution. “Although some indicators of the economy are positive, the economy is not free from pressure. It is necessary to have more intensive discussions to resolve the problems of the economy,” he said at a high-level discussion with political parties, private sector and other stakeholders. He informed that the government was thinking about the current state of Nepal’s economy and possible ways to move forward with pragmatic solutions. According to PM Prachanda, although several indicators of the economy have been positive since last year, the economy has not yet reached a point where it is free from pressure. “Therefore, it is necessary for us to come to a proper conclusion with serious discussion. If we do not face it together, the crisis will deepen,” he said while adding there is no need to worry much as the government is serious in managing the crisis with the cooperation from the private sector and other entities.
Locals living near the proposed industrial park and other areas in Ward No. 10 of Damak Municipality have said that jackals and wild boars have, of late, been terrifying them. “While wild boars are destroying our produce, jackals are attacking people and cattle,” said Nagendra Mani Neupane, a local. Chairman of Ward No. 5 of Bhimeshwor Municipality, Dolakha, Basu Shrestha has arranged an educational tour for students of three schools of his ward to Kathmandu from his salaries. It has been revealed that the individuals involved in gold smuggling from Dolakha were also involved in illegal transactions of large amounts of foreign currency while paying for the smuggled metal. During the investigation, it was discovered that an internationally organised criminal network was set up to smuggle gold to Nepal via China’s Rongjia border. In a press conference held on Tuesday, the District Police Office Dolakha revealed that those arrested in the gold smuggling had transacted Rs. 2.19 billion through illegal cryptocurrency in a year.
