A total of 2,883 individuals died and 7,282 others were severely injured in around 24,526 road accidents across the country during the last fiscal year 2021/22. The Nepal Police Mirror 2022, released on October 17 by Nepal Police Headquarters, shows that 25,722 individuals sustained minor injuries in the accidents.

Karsang Tamang of Namkha Rural Municipality-6 informed that this year, the yaks and cattle were brought to the lower villages earlier than the past due to early snowfall.
Swings used to be a part of major festivals from Dashain to Thulo Ekadashi. The Election Commission (EC) has accelerated the transportation of the ballot papers and election materials for the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies slated for November 20. Transportation of the ballot papers for the proportional presentation (PR) electoral system has been completed in 69 districts, while the task of transporting the ballot papers to eight districts is still pending. Transporting of the ballot papers has been halted in some remote districts due to the poor road connectivity.
Nepal Police have been arresting hundreds of individuals for gambling with cards and sea shells (locally called ‘kauda’) on the basis of special tipoff. According to Nepal Police Headquarters daily bulletins, 78 gamblers were held from four different districts with over Rs. 2 million in cash during the festival of Tihar.
The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has verified 53 deaths due to dengue infection since mid-July so far. Similarly, 46,413 cases of dengue virus spread by the infected Aedes aegypti mosquito were detected from across the nation as of Saturday. Meanwhile, RSS adds, the number of dengue infection cases has crossed 2,000 in Chitwan. The District Health Office stated that dengue has been confirmed in 2,164 persons till October 27 so far. Dengue tests were conducted on 8,853 samples during this period and 2,164 of these samples were tested dengue positive.

Spain’s state prosecutor dropped its charges against Neymar on Friday, but a Brazilian company involved in the case will continue to fight the soccer player in court. The case stems from Neymar’s transfer in 2013 from Santos to Barcelona. The state prosecutor withdrew all charges against Neymar, his father and the former executives of the Brazilian and Spanish clubs. However, the trial will continue because Brazilian company DIS, which brought the case, maintained its accusation that the parties involved committed fraud and corruption.
