Govt serious about rights of children: Minister Regmi

BY OUR CORRESPONDENT, Nepalgunj, Dec. 15Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Uma Regmi has said that the government has been working seriously to educate the children and ensure their rights. 

Unveiling the statues of Jaikesh Singh's father and mother, who donated land for the construction of Jayendu Children's Rehabilitation Home at Duduwa-6 in Banke district, amidst a function on Wednesday, Minister Regmi said that the land donated by the Singh family has contributed significantly to the construction of the children's home.

Stating that the government was carrying out various programmes for all-round development of children, she said special attention had been paid to the protection and education of children. 

Jaikesh Singh had donated four bighas of land owned by his late father Tapta Bahadur Singh and mother Hemrani Singh to the government in 2010 for the construction of the children's home.

The government has constructed a half-size statues of Singh couple on the premises of the children’s home respecting the land donors. 

Minister Regmi urged the government to pay attention for the effective operation of the rehabilitation home and said that the construction of building, naming and statue construction have been completed.
