BY OUR CORRESPONDENT, Dipayal, Dec. 15: A long and tall suspension bridge has been constructed in Dipayal, Doti district, for tourism development. The bridge connects historical and religious places Kotbhairav and Dudheshwor of Ward No. 2 and 5 respectively in Silgadhi Municipality. The Sudurpaschim provincial government provided Rs. 8,638,000 in financial aid to Silgadhi Municipality to construct the 200-meter long bridge at a height of 70 meters above the ground.
Inaugurating the bridge on Monday, Silgadhi Municipality Mayor Bijay Khadka said that the bridge connecting two historical and religious places would support in the promotion of its history and tourism development. A historical record shows that Bhupati Shah had ruled Doti (famous kingdom of Baisse Rajya) from 1555 AD to 1617 AD and built Royal Palace naming Kot in Gauda Danda of Doti. Mayor Khadka said that they were planning to make the place a tourist spot. The remains of Kotbhairav palace can still be found here.
From the suspension bridge one can view main market areas like Dipayal, Pipalla, Rajpur Silgadhi, the Seti River, highway and other places of the district. Khadka said that the remnants of the palace could be conserved and recreational activities like bungee, rafting would be managed in order to promote the area as tourist destination. He said that the municipality would prepare a work plan for the regular operation and management of the bridge.
