Kathmandu, June 1: The government has made a target to complete construction of
at least 10 transmission lines which are under-construction within upcoming
fiscal year 2026/27.
The government has allocated Rs. 85 billion 540
million for energy production, transmission and distribution, out of which Rs.
70 billion has been earmarked solely for completing construction of the
under-construction transmission lines and sub-stations, according to the
ministry for energy, water resources and irrigation.
At a press meet on Sunday, Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim
Wagle said that the budget has given strategic importance to energy sector and
allocated the amount accordingly so as also to attract private sector from
production to trade of energy.
According to the details, the government will
complete construction of Hetauda-Dhalkebar-Inaruwa 400kv transmission line and
complete new Khimti-Barhabise-Kathmandu transmission line.
Enlisted under to be completed are Lalbandi-Nawalpur-Salimpur
132kv, Kushaha-Biratnagar 132kv, Nepalgunj-Nanpara 132kv transmission lines.
Similarly, Kushma-Tallo Modi-Naya Modi 132kv and
Kaligandaki-Ridi 132kv transmission lines are also to be completed in 2026/27.
Tumlingtar-Shitalpati 220kv, Dhalkebar-Balganga
132kv, Bhumai-Hakui 132kv, are also to be completed.
The government has also targeted to speed up the
construction of Hetauda-Ratmate-Lapsifedi-New Damauli-New Butwal 400kv
transmission lines.
For cross border energy trade expansion,
Butwal-Gorakhpur and Inaruwa-Purniya transmission lines are in priority.
There are plans to complete study and initiate
process for construction for Dhalkebar-Mujafarpur-Sitamadhi,
Lamki-Dodhara-Bareli, Lamahi-Lakhnau, Nijgadh-Motihari and Chilime Hub Kerung
transmission lines.
Announcement has also been made to accelerate construction
of Karnali corridor national transmission line and expand electrification in
Karnali's local levels where national grid is yet to reach.
