Kathmandu, Apr. 8: Officials of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) and newly elected executive members of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) have discussed a wide range of cooperation areas to support Nepal’s economic development.
The discussion took place during a reception organised by the Nepal Chamber of Commerce to welcome the newly elected NRNA leadership, with a focus on strengthening collaboration to promote economic growth and enhance Nepal’s global presence.
Speaking at the event on Monday, President of NCC Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal emphasised that promoting trade, strengthening Nepal’s international identity, and ensuring overall development are key priorities at present.
He said that despite Nepal’s rich natural resources, cultural diversity, and human potential, their effective utilisation remains limited, calling for strategic mobilisation of these resources.
President Agrawal stressed the importance of closer cooperation between the NCC and NRNA, particularly to establish “Made in Nepal” as an international brand.
He underlined the need to promote local products, boost exports, develop tourism, and attract foreign investment, adding that stronger coordination among the government, private sector, and citizens is essential.
NRNA President Dr. Hem Raj Sharma highlighted the role of non-resident Nepalis as a bridge in promoting Nepal’s products, culture, and identity globally.
He said that the private sector has a crucial role in creating an investment-friendly environment in Nepal and added that NRNA would work more effectively to connect second- and third-generation Nepalis with their homeland.
Former President of NCC Rajendra Malla called for strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation between the two organisations and encouraged greater investment in Nepal.
Senior Vice President of NCC Deepak Kumar Malhotra expressed optimism that recent political developments have created a sense of stability, which could accelerate private sector growth.
Participants at the programme stressed that collective efforts are essential to achieve economic prosperity, urging all stakeholders to work together to maximise opportunities and build a prosperous Nepal.
