Myagdi, Apr. 8: A new, fully equipped police post building has been constructed in Singa Tatopani, Beni Municipality–4, Myagdi. The new building of the Singa Tatopani Police Post has been constructed on an area of 2 ropanis at Rs. 35 million by the Gandaki Provincial Government.

The total estimated cost of the project was Rs. 35.173 million, with a contract agreement signed with Divya Jyoti Nirman Sewa for Rs. 35.172 million in June/July 2024 (Ashar 2081), informed Deputy Superintendent of Police Chiranjibi Pratap Mahato, engineer at the Gandaki Province Police Office, Pokhara. According to him, the construction team that was mobilised at the site immediately after the contract was signed and completed the building on time. He said, “The Gandaki Province Police Office implemented the budget received from the provincial government to construct this modern building required for the police post.

All construction work has been completed and the building is scheduled to be inaugurated soon.” Previously, the police post operated from a rented house. He added that the two-storey building includes an administrative wing, male and female detention cells, a communication room, a kitchen, and toilets.

The construction of this building will help strengthen peace and security in the Singa Tatopani area, known as a natural hospital, and improve citizen-friendly service delivery, said Surya Bahadur Thapa, Chief of the District Police Office, Myagdi.

He further stated that necessary initiatives have also been taken for other police posts lacking their own buildings. Currently, the Rakhu Bhagwati Police Post in the district operates from a rented house. Similarly, police units of the Area Police Offices in Darwang, Ghodepani, Babiyachaur, Galeshwor, Ratnechaur, Mangalaghat, Chimkhola, Tiplyang, Dana, and Ghar do not have their own premises.

These police posts operate from community buildings and rented houses. The main challenge in constructing police post buildings remains land acquisition, Thapa said. Meanwhile, the district police offices at Kalipul, Bhurung-Tatopani, Mauwaphant, and Takam have their own buildings.
