blog

Kathmandu, April 3: The government is working to make the office chiefs responsible and accountable for averting fiduciary irregularities and corruption.

In this connection, the government has publicly elicited immediate recommended actions for initiating reforms in policies, laws, institutions, procedures and practices.

Chief Secretary of the Nepal government Suman Aryal said the primary responsibility of the office chief is to ensure employees treat service recipients courteously, uphold neutrality, transparency, and strictly adhere to the code of conduct stipulated in the law regarding ethics and discipline.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Chief Secretary Aryal clarified that the recently formed government has prioritized ending all forms of corruption—policy-related, institutional, procedural—within public bodies and promoting good governance.

He stated that the government has adopted policies to make government offices and staff skilled, professional, and ethical to gain public trust, and to prioritize public services to women, children, persons with disabilities, senior citizens, and the vulnerable.

Any potential bribery, corruption, and irregularities in government bodies will be closely monitored, spot-checked, and that any information related to corruption should be recorded and sent to the relevant authorities immediately, it is mentioned in the statement.

Chief Aryal called for one and all to take necessary initiatives to end corruption caused by the misuse of public office and authority in service delivery, development, revenue administration, contracts and procurement processes by government agencies, and to establish good governance and integrity in a way that citizens can tangibly experience.
