Kathmandu, March 13: Stakeholders and activists have suggested that the upcoming government should implement the inclusive representation system as enshrined in the Constitution of Nepal.
At a programme organized by Nepal Voter Rights Forum here on Friday, the speakers viewed that the government should take its steps by considering the fact that the result of the House of Representatives (HoR) elections under the first-past-the-post election system failed to truly embrace the diversity of Nepali society and inclusiveness.
Forum's Chairman Bhakta Bishwakarma argued that the results from women, ethnic and Dalit clusters are poor limited their lower candidacy, and could not meet the diverse characteristics of Nepali society.
Likewise, activist Manish Gautam said that very few of the new political parties carried the inclusive characteristics, while several others failed to become inclusive in terms of ethnic, gender and other perspectives.
Gautam added that there should be studies and monitoring whether the parties implemented the announcements made in their election manifestos.
Also speaking at the programme, activist Kopila Dangol argued that the massive representation of Nepali society and its transformation seems poor in the upcoming HoR though the representation of youths is impressive.(RSS)
