By Amar Raj Naharki, Tanahun, March 11: 77.77 per cent of the four-lane bridge over the under-construction Madi river, which falls in the Muglin-Pokhara road expansion project along the Prithivi Highway. The bridge connecting Byas Municipality's wards 4 and 5 has been expedited.

Information Officer Engineer Bishnu Prasad Pandey of the Muglin-Pokhara road expansion project said that the construction of the main structure of the bridge has been completed, while the upper structure and finishing work of the bridge are underway.

The tough work of laying the foundation and pillars has been completed; therefore, we are working to bring the project to completion by the end of the current fiscal year.

There are six spans in the bridge. The contract agreement was reached with Jedaaist Aanak JV, in the year 2022, August 11 with an investment of Rs 210 million.

Site in charge of the construction company Dharma Pratap Lamgade said that the construction work is in full swing. Around 125 laborers are working at the site.

He said that there was a delay of around six months in the initial stage because of a design change, but the construction work has now picked up.

There is a two-lane bridge of 30 meters over the Madi River, which is currently in use.

A new bridge is being constructed at a distance of around 50 meters from the existing bridge.

It is believed that the newly constructed four-lane bridge, which will be made in a modern arc design, will be the highest attraction and modernity of the Prithi Highway.

According to the project, the bridge is being constructed not only from a commuting perspective but also as an artistic endeavor.

It is believed that after bridge construction the ever increasing traffic of Damauli area will be at ease.

The Prithvi Highway Expansion Project is being upgraded to four lanes with the loan assistance of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Under this, the eastern section of the Muglin-Pokhara road is being completed at a cost of Rs 6.21 billion and the western section at a cost of Rs 7.40 billion.
