Rai of Shram Sanskriti Party elected from Khotang

Khotang, March 8: Aren Rai of Shram Sanskriti Party has been elected a member of the House of Representatives from Khotang. 

Also the general secretary of Shram Sanskriti Party, Aren was elected with 16,612 votes, defeating his closed rival CPN (UML)'s Dev Bikram Rai by a margin of 3,898 votes.  Dev Bikram received 12,714 votes, according to the Office of the Chief Returning Officer.

Likewise, Birkaji Rai of Nepali Congress received 11,957 votes, Dr Hari Roka of Nepali Communist Party received 9,443 votes, Rudra Giri of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) received 5,704 votes, and Miresh Rai of Rastriya Parivartan Party, received 947 votes.

In Khotang, which has only one constituency for the House of Representatives, 62,566 votes were cast out of a total of 147,120 voters.

District Election Office Chief Rabin Magar shared that 3,928 votes were found to be invalid. The counting of proportional representation (PR) votes has also begun.(RSS)
