Vote counting halted in Gorkha-2 after dispute in ballot papers

By Guna Bahadur Roka, Sulikot (Gorkha), March 7: Vote counting has been stalled in Gorkha constituency-2 following dispute during the process.

Representatives of the political parties objected the process when some ballot papers were found without the signature of the election officer.

Returning officer Mohan Belbase said that the representatives of some political parties raised questions after not find necessary signature in the ballot papers.

Representatives of the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) came out of the counting center expressing doubt about fraud in election, which caused halt in counting.

Belbase said that discussions were going on disputed ballot papers and counting will start after authenticating them in due process.Once the dispute is resolved, the vote counting will resume, he said.
