Mahendranagar, March 5: Sudurpaschim Province recorded 51.37 percent voter turnout in the House of Representatives election held on Thursday.
The Province Election Office informed that the voter turnout in Kailali was 55. 35 percent, while it was 58.96 percent in Kanchanpur, 40.87 percent in Doti, 39.18 percent in Achham, 51.61 percent in Bajura, 49.15 percent in Dadeldhura, 46.44 percent Bajhang, 46.77 percent in Baitadi and 53.75 percent in Darchula.
The Election Commission had listed over 1.7 million (total 1716,660) voters in Sudurpaschim Province, while 881 thousand plus (total 881,953) cast their ballots.
Meanwhile, the province election office informed that after the collection of ballot boxes, an all-party meeting would be held and vote counting begun. The collection of ballot boxes is underway.
The police informed that it would, however, take time to ferry the ballot boxes from mountainous areas of Darchula, Bajhang and Bajura districts to the respective vote counting stations.
Spokesperson at Sudurpaschim Province Police Office, Padam Bahadur Bogati, informed that efforts were on to ferry the ballot boxes from 10 voting centres by helicopter.(RSS)
