By Santosh Dahit, Dang, Feb 25: CPN-UML General Secretary and candidate Shankar Pokharel Dang-2 constituency, has pledged to take the initiative to resolve the long-standing problem of the Swargadwari Guthi issue.
Speaking at an interaction and commitment-signing program organized by the Swargadwari Guthi Victimized Tenant Farmers’ Struggle Committee in Ghorahi, Dang, Pokharel, clarified that resolving the Guthi issue remains one of his top priorities. The program focused on securing tenant rights over land under the Swargadwari Guthi.
He said that a bill has already been drafted to address the Guthi problem but said that a lack of active engagement from the concerned ministry has delayed its resolution.
Claiming that the CPN-UML stands firmly in support of the victimized tenant farmers, Pokharel stated that the issue must be resolved at the state level and should be viewed through the lens of political willpower.
He also mentioned that the absence of a clear majority for any single party has hindered the government from functioning effectively and urged voters to support the UML in the upcoming election.
“The Guthi issue is a state issue. If the right representative is elected, the work can be accomplished,” he said. “If a representative who understands the problem reaches a responsible position, a solution is possible.”
On the occasion, he also expressed his written commitment to work toward resolving the Guthi problem.
