By Sita Kafle, Rupandehi, Feb.21: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has directed security officials to make all necessary arrangements to ensure that the upcoming House of Representatives elections are conducted peacefully.
While receiving updates on the security situation from security officials of Lumbini Province at a program held in Butwal, Prime Minister Karki directed them to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the elections are peaceful and fear-free.
As the election date approaches and minor incidents have been increasing in some parts of the country, Prime Minister Karki expressed concern over the security situation.
She instructed officials to identify those attempting to disrupt the elections and to remain focused on election-centered security measures.
The Prime Minister said that some elements are spreading rumors of election boycotts for political gain and directed authorities to keep such groups under strict surveillance.
She also received a comprehensive briefing on the overall security situation of Lumbini Province amid the meeting.
Following the security meeting, Prime Minister Karki proceeded to visit Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha.
