Rasuwa, Feb 20: Nepal Police have requested businesspersons and vehicle operators to bear invoices for the goods transported via Rasuwa Gadhi checkpoint.
The businesspersons must conduct cross-border trades by fulfilling the customs duties, police added.
The security agency made the appeal in the wake of rising cross-border transports that failed to adhere to legal requirements. Chief of the District Police Office in Rasuwa, Ashok Thapa, argued some entrepreneurs were found adopting clandestine measures to transfer small amounts of goods via the Miteri Bridge and transporting them to Trishuli and Kathmandu using public transport.
In this connection, the police have intensified efforts to curb illegal trade. He emphasized that drivers are advised against carrying illegal goods, and warned of action if they ignored request. During vehicle inspections, the security agency had found smuggling, leading to confiscation of the goods.
Over the past six months, the Armed Police Force has seized the smuggled items worth Rs 1,128,000, while the Nepal Police confiscated goods worth Rs 185,000.(RSS)
