Five arrested for illegal excavation in Chure

By Abinash Chaudhary, Dhangadhi, Feb.20: The forest team has arrested five people while illegally excavating in the Chure area in Kailali. 

They were arrested while excavating stones, sand, and pebbles from the Adheri stream of Chure Rural Municipality-4 of Kailali district. 

Those arrested include people operating various types of equipment.

Forest Division Office has taken under control one backhoe loader, three tipper, and one tractor used during the excavation.

Divisional Forest Officer Ram Bichari Thakur said that the arrest was made for mining riverine materials without an environmental impact assessment and approval.

He said that they were arrested for illegally digging. 

Further investigation and action have been taken against the arrested person.
