By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 18: The Central Spokesperson of Nepal Police Headquarters, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Abi Narayan Kafle, has instructed police spokespersons and information officers across the country to ensure that all information disseminated to the public is truthful, objective and transparent.

Addressing an interaction programme held virtually from the Nepal Police Headquarters on Tuesday, DIG Kafle emphasised that information provided to journalists and citizens must strengthen public trust and enhance the credibility of the organisation.

He briefed police officials in detail on the Right to Information Act-2007, the Police Media Policy-2003, and provisions relating to the use of social media.

Stressing the need for greater caution in the use of social networking platforms, he directed officers to act in ways that positively influence the organisation’s public image.

The programme also included discussions on precautions to be observed during press conferences and while issuing press releases, as well as relevant constitutional provisions.

The interaction was attended by spokespersons and information officers from various bureaus within the Kathmandu Valley, the Traffic Police Office, the Airport Security Office, and all seven provincial police offices.

Noting that effective information dissemination plays a crucial role in fostering positive public perception and broadening public support, the Central Spokesperson urged all office representatives to carry out their responsibilities with accountability and professionalism.
