By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 17: ‘Pahad’, a film directed by veteran director Tulsi Ghimire, is all set to be released on 14 April, targeting the Nepali New Year.
The storyline shows how hills are left deserted because of the migration of young manpower. Director Ghimire, who is also the writer, said that the film discloses the bitter reality of today's society.
Having worked with Madan Krishna Shrestha following ‘Balidan’ and with Sunil Thapa after ‘Chino’, director Ghimire is confident that collaboration between the new and older generations will yield good results.
He said, “The film encompasses the story of high hills that have become devoid of human settlement, it portrays our responsibility and the needs of the nation. While watching the film, the movie-goers will find a sense of belonging and see their own story. I am excited to work by bringing together both the new and the older generations.”
The film is produced by Ojashwi KC while cinematography is done by Pramod Pradhan. Pradhan, who has worked on films, web series and telefilms in India, has previously collaborated with director Ghimire on ‘Anyay’, ‘Koseli’, ‘Chino’ and ‘Dakshina’.
Produced under the banner of Bhagyaratna Films, the film features artistes Bipin Karki, late Sunil Thapa, Madan Krishna Shrestha, Renunath Yogi, Arun Chhetri, Rabindra Singh Baniya and Salona Bajracharya, among others.
Director Ghimire is also introducing his youngest daughter, Panchami Ghimire, as an actress through this film. Similarly, his elder daughter, Bhawana Ghimire, has taken on the role of production designer as part of the film’s technical team.
The film has music direction by Ranjit Gajmer and creative direction by Bharati Ghimire. Rimpoche Lama Thing and Suresh Lama Thing are co-producers of the film.
