By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 16: Health Insurance Board (HIB) has initiated providing details of the daily claim amount made from the insured’s account via SMS on the mobile phone through the HIB Alert system.
HIB has announced that insured individuals will receive details about their daily claims via the HIB Alert system on their mobile phones. Even though the hospital billed the amount spent for medical treatment through the health insurance programme, it was difficult for the insured to find out how much was left.
The insured had also been requesting that an MMS be made available to them when they paid their bills, informing them of how much money was left and how much had been spent.
The Board has announced in the notice that it has launched a new digital information service to further strengthen the ease, transparency, and trust of the insured people.
However, to receive this service, every insured person has to update their mobile phone number.
The Board also requested that the insured who have not updated their mobile numbers so far contact the Health Insurance Board Office in the insured district and update their details.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Population has provided detailed information about the procedure to renew health insurance electronically.
The ministry has also urged all to support the Insurance Board’s efforts to make the health insurance programme sustainable and ensure an environment where everyone can receive services in the possible major health crisis in the future.
In a recent statement shared on social media, the Ministry clarified the decision made by the HIB limits insurance coverage for OPD services to Rs. 25,000.
The health officials also said that the new scheme was initiated by the HIB to fight financial crisis, as the Board has more than 12 billion in dues owed to major hospitals.
