Prawasi Jiwan echoes migrants' dreams

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 13: Actor Rajesh Hamal has said that the film ‘Prawasi Jiwan’ portrays the story of Nepalis who travel abroad carrying dreams of a brighter future.

Sharing information about the film, which is set for nationwide release from February 27, he stated that the subject matter and the message it conveys were the reasons he chose to be part of the project.

He said, “The theme presented in it addresses, in one way or another, the lives of Nepalis living abroad.”

The film depicts the struggles of Nepalis who travel to the US in pursuit of a brighter future and stability. It has been jointly directed by Shyam Chhetri and Ram Adhikari. According to co-director Chhetri, the film has been made focusing on the joys and sorrows, ups and downs, and challenges faced by migrants.

He added that the film centres on mental health issues and their solutions, and would be beneficial in helping audiences understand migrant life more closely. 

The film features Rajesh Hamal, Sarita Lamichhane, Buddhi Tamang, Mahadev Tripathi, Angela Basnet, Gagan Subedi, Divya Neupane, Prasu Giri, Shikha Adhikari, as well as director Chhetri himself in major roles.

The entire film has been shot in scenic locations in the United States. It has been jointly produced by Shyam Chhetri Production and National Media Production. Cinematographer Rabin Acharya has produced the film. Producer Acharya said that Hamal’s involvement was drawn by the strength of the subject itself.

The story, screenplay and dialogue of the film have been written by director Chhetri himself. The cinematography is by Amrit Bisuwa, editing is by Ram Adhikari. Singers such as Pramod Kharel and Pratap Das have lent their voices to the film.
