As I sit on the bank of the Brisbane River, in the New Farm Park, Australia, the ambience is unspeakable. The temperature is just 26 degrees Celsius. Just to my right and left-hand side, there are small green trees swinging with the wind and due to the force of the wave. Just in front of me, there is a white and blue yacht moored. From my right-hand side, a blue and white CityCat, which is a public boat, runs upwards, splashing water. The river is swirling with the ripples. Across the river, there are beautiful houses on the slopes that rise from the bottom to the top. There is a wide brown footpath for pedestrians and cyclists. There are runners, ladies in tight shorts and vests and men in shorts and T-shirts.
Mothers are walking their toddlers and other parents who are sitting on the ground, having some food. The birds are freely chirping and flying. Nobody shoos them away or pelt stones at them. Their freedom is greatly valued and respected. The brooding season for some birds has begun and the signboards have been placed in the areas where birds like magpies may come to chase people to ensure the security of their breeding. Nobody is supposed to be there when the birds are hatching. The only thing you could do if magpies come to attack you is to protect your eyes and head, and leave the area as soon as possible.
The Queensland Government has made public transport very accessible and affordable for all. The only money you pay for travelling from one place to another is fifty cents, which is just half a dollar. This applies to all bus, train and ferry travels. The only exception will be if you enter the airport by train, you will be charged a bit more.
There are plenty of benches, tables, and even barbecue-making places, drinking water facility in the park. There are big, clean rubbish bins placed at short distances so that people can throw rubbish. The park is very clean. Nobody disturbs nobody. Everybody enjoys in their own way. Different people come to New Farm Park for various reasons – some come for quiet time, some for reading, some for writing, some for running, some for rest, some come to walk their dogs, some come for just observing, wondering and pondering. Some old people come to walk their grandchildren in the prams. Some people even come for weddings as the view here is spectacular.
Due to summer and good weather, plus lots of good stuff to see and do, lots of tourists visit Brisbane. Lots of tourists take the CityCat/CityDog travel along the Brisbane River to enjoy the view on both sides. Just under the Story Bridge, there is a Beer Brewing Company called Felons, which is very famous and lots of people go there to have different good tastes of beer and enjoy other foods and drinks. As the Felons overlooks Brisbane River, the view is really great. The Story Bridge, just above the Felons, glows with different lights in the evening, which is so amazing. There is a very good long path built on the side from Felons, which leads to New Farm Park.
