By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 11: Poet Deepak Chaulagain has brought out a poetry collection titled 'Hatarma Chhan Yatri' (Travellers Are in a Hurry) in Nepali.
Writers Shrawan Mukarung, Shakuntala Joshi, Shri Om Shrestha 'Rodan', Chhabiraman Silwal, Mani Lohani, and Chaulagain himself launched the book amid an event in the capital on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Mukarung said that creative works are never complete. "This is not a journey that completes like summiting Mount Everest," he said. "It is a journey where the creator continues to cross the every path he has built, climbing new peaks throughout his life."
He added that poetry feels like spirituality which is the science of the soul. "These two philosophies are interrelated," he said. "Where spirituality exists, we can debate material science; where material science develops, we can also discuss spirituality."
He further said that Chaulagain's use of discoveries and knowledge from material science as poetic elements has offered readers a distinct style in Nepali poetry.
Poet Shakuntala Joshi observed that the collection demonstrates a rare and profound understanding of Eastern Vedic philosophy, dialectical materialism, and subtle sciences, particularly quantum theory, expressed in a simple manner. "Writing poetry on a global philosophical canvas that views the universe and life from different yet harmonious perspectives is Chaulagain's distinct poetic strength," she commented. "For Nepali readers, this book presents a new style enriched with rainbow-like beauty."
Mani Lohani expressed happiness to have received poems refined through Chaulagain's deep experiences. "The poems contain beautifully crafted images related to the consciousness of death," he noted. "This book clearly articulates the sensibilities of the Nepali people."
Essayist Shri Om Shrestha 'Rodan' remarked that the poet’s ability to write poetry in such a simple style while incorporating various dimensions of life and material science reflects an excellent poetic craft.
Chhabiraman Silwal, chairperson of the Sunkoshi Bangmaya Pratisthan, stated that driven by a love for poetry, the foundation has published four poetry collections within less than a year of its establishment.
Essayists Pradip Sapkota and Purna Bahadur Shrestha hailed the cultural imagery of the Sunkoshi and Roshi rivers in Chaulagain's poems.
Published by the Sunkoshi Bangmaya Pratisthan, the book consists of 38 poems.
