By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Feb. 10: The government has extended the tenure of the inquiry commission formed to investigate the Gen Z Movement and the cases of arson and vandalism.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Monday at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Singha Durbar, decided to extend the commission’s tenure.
According to Home Minister and government spokesperson Om Prakash Aryal, the commission’s term has been extended by 25 days. The term of the commission was expiring on February 11.
This was the third time that the tenure of the commission has been extended. Last time, the government had extended its term by 20 days. The commission was formed on September 21, 2025 led by former Chairperson of the Special Court Gauri Bahadur Kari.
“The tenure of the inquiry commission, established to conduct a fair investigation into the events of September 8 and 9, has been extended by 25 days,” he told the media persons after the Cabinet meeting. At first, the commission’s term was extended by one month on December 23, 2025.
Other decisions taken by the Cabinet meeting include the endorsement of the collection of data for the National Economic Census-2082 and submission of the annual report of the government for the fiscal year 2081/82 B.S. to the President.
