Kathmandu, Feb 6: The National Assembly (NA) has unanimously approved the National Forensic Laboratory (Establishment and Operation) Bill-2081 BS.
The meeting of the Upper House convened today passed the Bill that was presented by Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Anil Sinha on the Prime Minister Sushila Karki and Minister for Education, Science and Technology.
Earlier, Minister Sinha, on the behalf of PM Karki and Minister for Education, Science and Technology, had tabled a proposal seeking its approval.
Prior to that, Minister Sinha, representing PM Karki, had presented a proposal for discussion on the Bill along with the report of the Legislative Management Committee.
The proposal also unanimously approved by the NA.
Lawmakers Dr Beduram Bhusal, Sumitra BC and Rukmini Koirala had participated in the deliberation on the Bill.
Responding to the queries raised by the lawmakers, Minister Sinha clarified that the Act was introduced to strengthen research, investigation and various other dimensions of forensic science in the country.
The NA is scheduled to meet again on February 9 on Monday at 1:15 PM.(RSS)
