Yam Baral returns with fresh melodies

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 14: Three songs sung by Yam Baral were released amid a programme held in Kathmandu on Monday. The songs, ‘Yo Saanjh Feri’, ‘Jun Ra Sunko’, and ‘Tender Maya’, were officially released at the event.

The songs and their music videos were launched by veteran artist Madan Krishna Shrestha, along with senior music composer Deepak Jangam, renowned director and actress Dipashree Niraula, senior journalist Rishi Dhamala, and other guests.

Among the released songs, ‘Yo Saanjh Feri’ features lyrics by Rakhi Gauchan and music by Shankar Thapa. The music video is directed by Keshav Raj Bhatt, with cinematography by Aman Badu and editing by Rakesh Dahal. The music video stars Juna Karki and Yam Baral.

The second song, ‘Jun Ra Sunko’, has lyrics by Sanjay Baral and music composed by Bikash Chaudhary. The music video was directed by lyricist Sanjay Baral himself and features Yam Baral, Shree Thapaliya, Suren Poudel, and Narayan Pradhan Saiju. Cinematography was done by Bikram DC, while editing was handled by Bikash Dhamala.

The third song, ‘Tender Maya’, also has lyrics by Sanjay Baral and music by Bikash Chaudhary. The music video is directed by Nitin Chand and features Sandipa Gautam, Nabin Mahatara Kshetri, Rashila Shrestha, and Yam Baral. Namit Chand Thakuri served as associate director, Manoj KC handled the cinematography, and Shukun Timilsina did the editing.

Speaking at the event, Yam Baral said that he has returned to mainstream music after a long time. Active in the music field for over 35 years, he shared that he prefers dedicated practice over following trends. Since music is what he knows best, he said he remains fully devoted to it.

Veteran artist Madan Krishna Shrestha said that Yam Baral is one of his favourite voices. He said that after losing his wife, he often feels emotional, and Baral’s songs have helped comfort his ailing heart.

Likewise, Deepak Jangam discussed various aspects of the released songs, saying they were excellent from every angle and maintained a wonderful balance of lyrics, music, and voice.
