By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 7: A ‘Video Art Installation Workshop’ organised by the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts began on Monday at the Academy’s premises in Naxal.
At the inaugural programme of the workshop, Academy Chancellor Nardamani Hartamchhali shed light on the background of video art installation and discussed its connection with the past, present, and future of this art form.
He spoke about the content, concept, tools, and techniques involved in video art installation and emphasised that, for social transformation, artworks should be created by combining the aesthetics of this art form with fine arts, based on cultural guidelines.
The Head of the Academy’s Interdisciplinary and Other Creative Arts Department, Saurganga Darshandhari, said that the workshop is special and urged participants to focus carefully on the concept.
She further added that such programmes will be continued regularly in the future.
Facilitator of the programme, Academician Jupiter Pradhan, said that the global historical background of video art installation and noted that in Nepal, this art form began in 1987 with the first animation art workshop, followed by its gradual development.
He provided participating artists with information on the technical aspects of video art installation, concept development, and related subjects.
The workshop, which will run until Friday, has participants including Diva Limbu, Sabina Tamang, Sarina Lamichhane, Karima Joshi, Sushila Muktan, and Christopher Man Singh.
