By A Staff Reporter,Lekhnath, Jan. 4: A play aimed at raising public awareness of environmental conservation, waste management, and healthy lifestyles is set to be staged across all 33 wards of Pokhara Metropolitan City.
Organised by Pokhara Theatre, the play titled ‘Makhi Tal’ will be performed in every ward of the metropolis. The staging begins on Sunday, with performances scheduled in Ward Nos. 30, 31, and 32.
Founder chairperson of Pokhara Theatre, Pariwartan, said preparations for the performances are almost complete. “Through humour and satire, the play delivers strong messages to the audience. We plan to stage it in all wards of the metropolitan city,” he said.
Written and directed by Pariwartan, ‘Makhi Tal’ features performances by Parivartan himself, along with Ramesh Babu Timilsina, Susan Poudel, Uma Pun, Dhana Kaji Shrestha, Utsharga Subedi, Ranju Dahal, Shraddha Acharya, and Shrikrishna Bhandari, among others.
The 40-minute play aims to entertain audiences while raising awareness about creating green jobs through recycling and upcycling under the project called Green Job Creation through Recycling and Upcycling.
Props, costume design, as well as overall production development and programme coordination, are being handled by Prakash Regmi Hamal. Pokhara, Nepal’s largest metropolitan city, continues to face challenges related to waste management and environmental conservation. After the international airport began operating in the city, the old landfill site was closed, but a new one has yet to be established. Consequently, public awareness initiatives such as ‘Makhi Tal’ have become increasingly relevant.
