Nepali Army distributes firewood in Rajbiraj

By Binay Karn,Kalyanpur (Saptari), Dec. 28: As extreme cold and a cold wave continue to disrupt daily life, the Nepali Army has distributed firewood in Rajbiraj to provide relief to the locals.

With the aim of protecting people from the cold wave, the Army distributed firewood and helped arrange fires at several locations in Rajbiraj Municipality, Saptari.

On Saturday, a team from Barkha Battalion, led by Lieutenant Colonel Bharat Giri, distributed firewood to benefit around 200 people. The distribution took place in Ward Nos. 2, 5 and 7 of Rajbiraj Municipality, as well as at Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital premises, Chhinnamasta Hospital Chowk, Rajdevi Chowk, Tetari Gachhi Chowk, Bus Park Chowk, Neta Chowk and other market areas.

According to Battalion Commander Senior Colonel Sobit Bahadur Chand, firewood was provided in coordination with the District Forest Division Office, and arrangements were made for lighting fires in areas badly affected by extreme cold and the cold wave.

Locals said the Army’s support has provided much-needed relief as the severe cold continues to disrupt everyday life.
