By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec. 24: The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has fixed new selling prices for seeds, crops, and agricultural produce.
As per a ministerial decision dated December 14, new rates have been approved for paddy, maize, wheat, pulses, and oilseed crops.
According to the new price list, the most expensive hybrid maize seed of the improved variety has been fixed at Rs. 300 per kg, while hybrid rice seed has been set at Rs. 200 per kg.
The price of aromatic rice seed has been fixed at Rs. 105 per kg, wheat at Rs. 80 per kg, lentils at Rs. 160 per kg, and mustard seed at Rs. 170 per kg.
The prices of certified seeds are slightly lower. The price of sorghum seed, which is used as green manure, has been fixed at Rs. 120 per kg.
The ministry has also made public the prices of food grains unsuitable for sowing. Accordingly, wheat will cost Rs. 38.67 per kg, coarse rice Rs. 34.63 per kg, medium quality rice Rs. 36.28 per kg, and maize Rs. 35 per kg.
Similarly, lentils will cost Rs. 90 per kg, and mustard seed Rs. 80 per kg. In addition, the price of paddy straw under agricultural co-production has been fixed at Rs. 2 per kg.
